Joshua is a 16-year-old high-schooler. He has been a special kid since birth. He was very late in speech and social development. He is autistic.
On a regular Sunday afternoon, Joshua was sitting in his usual spot in the living room, doing his own thing quietly. His mom passed by him while doing the laundry. Suddenly she heard him speak out-loud:
“Mom, I can see how much you love me. I love you, too.”
She was frozen. She had never heard anything like this from Joshua. She was thrilled but also perplexed.
She went to him, and surprisingly spotted tears in his eyes.
“Joshua, are you all right?” She was worried there might be something wrong with him or that she might upset him, because it all felt so surreal.
Joshua was staring at a corner of the living room, telling his mom how he suddenly experienced a vivid memory of himself sitting and playing at that corner, at a preschool age, and his mom was there in his company. For such a long time, she was just sitting there, being with him, looking after him, speaking to him every now and then, and of course, receiving no response from Joshua at all.
“I suddenly feel how much you love me. So I want to tell you that I love you, too, Mom.”
She couldn’t believe what she heard. This is the first time ever Joshua said, “I love you, Mom”, in his whole 16 years. And he really understood what it meant when he said those words. He had emotions. He felt love.
Tears ran down her face. The tears of joy!
This is a true story we received from Joshua’s mother, who is our customer, after Joshua used CytonBrite for a week.
